And Llama 3.1 Sonar (from Perplexity.ai) ideas for Screenshot tools for desktop:

– Virtual Product Demos: Teams can use screen recording tools to create high-quality, on-demand product demos that can be shared with potential customers or internal stakeholders. These demos can be customized to showcase specific features, provide step-by-step tutorials, or highlight new releases.

– Async Training Sessions: Screen recording tools can be leveraged to create asynchronous training sessions for employees. By recording interactive sessions, teams can provide detailed instructions and demonstrations that employees can review at their own pace, reducing the need for live training sessions.

– Customer Support Videos: Teams can use screen recording tools to create comprehensive customer support videos. These videos can walk users through troubleshooting steps, explain how to use specific features, or provide general tips and best practices. This approach helps in reducing the volume of support requests and enhances user satisfaction.

– Internal Communication: For internal communication, teams can record presentations or meetings and share them with team members who were unable to attend. This ensures everyone is on the same page and allows for better collaboration by providing a clear record of discussions and decisions.

– External Demos for Partnerships: When collaborating with external partners or vendors, screen recording tools can be used to create polished demos that highlight the value proposition of your product or service. These recordings can be shared via email or embedded in websites for easy access, facilitating smoother partnerships and negotiations.

For my personal experience working by myself and with a team, my recommendations for screen recording tools are:

Focusee – Local, Fast, One Time Pricing

I love this one since it’s all local (no web UI), they have Mac and Windows versions, and the zooming is pretty solid. I’ve used this to record 50+ videos now, and it took my editing time to near-zero.

Yes, this is ranked above Screen Studio for me. If you’re a team with Mixed devices (Windows + Macs), or work with freelancers, it’s challenging to have the Screenstudio limitation of 1 operating system. Focusee avoids that problem. (But, the file formats seem to differ when saved on Windows vs. Mac.)

Check it out here.

My fav 3 things:

  1. I can change how my cursor looks after recording
  2. I can make simple cuts/timeline editing is not bloated
  3. Backgrounds can be swapped.

Tella.tv – Online Cinematic Screen Recording

1 word – ANIMATED BACKGROUNDS. (ok, that was 2 words.) This really takes any screen recording to the next level imho.

Right out of the box, you can make the most eye catching screen recording online. Everything can be handled with their Web UI (no app downloads needed). You can download their Mac app if needed.

It’s just simple – Press record, swap out background, and change layouts as needed. Imo, best SaaS option for screen capture.

Check out their free trial here.

My favourite 3 features:

  1. Team editing (fast) – No uploads/downloads needed to edit
  2. Animated backgrounds/screen borders
  3. Layout transitions are gorgeous out of the box.

Screen Studio – The Classic Screen Recorder

I’ve followed Screenstudio for a long time, and many many creators I follow use it. They have a sleek website and the product UI is pretty solid, but compared to Tella, I’m not sure it wins for team usage. (Need to upload/store the .screenstudio files somewhere.)

If your whole team is on Mac, and you have a solid filesharing/media library, it’s a great choice.

The upside? Tella costs monthly, ScreenStudio costs one time. (with 1 year of updates.)

Check it out here.

My fav 3 features:

  1. It looks great
  2. The creator is active on X/posts updates
  3. The roadmap has some exciting features.
