Using AI and (at the bottom) some personal experiences, we wanted to put together some Screenshot tools for architects ideas.

GPT4o Mini ideas for Screenshot tools for architects:

– Create virtual walkthroughs of architectural designs by recording screen presentations that showcase 3D models and design details, allowing team members and clients to explore projects asynchronously.

– Develop instructional videos that demonstrate software tools and workflows used in architectural projects, enabling new team members to onboard at their own pace while enhancing overall team efficiency.

– Record design critique sessions where team members can share their screens to present their work, allowing for asynchronous feedback from colleagues who can review and comment at their convenience.

– Host external demos for clients by recording presentations that highlight key features of architectural proposals, allowing clients to revisit the content and share it with stakeholders who couldn’t attend the live session.

– Capture brainstorming sessions using digital whiteboards, enabling team members to record their ideas and discussions, which can then be shared as a resource for future reference and inspiration in ongoing projects.

And Llama 3.1 Sonar (from Perplexity.ai) ideas for Screenshot tools for architects:

– Virtual Walkthroughs: Teams can use screen recording tools to create detailed, step-by-step walkthroughs of architectural designs. These recordings can be shared with clients or team members who were not present during the initial presentation, allowing everyone to visualize the project’s progression and details.

– Client Feedback Sessions: Screen recording tools can be used to capture client feedback sessions. By recording these sessions, architects can analyze the feedback more effectively, identify common themes, and incorporate constructive criticism into future projects.

– Training and Onboarding: For new team members or interns, screen recordings of complex architectural processes can serve as an excellent training resource. This helps in onboarding new staff quickly and ensures that everyone is on the same page regarding design methodologies and software usage.

– Project Documentation: Screen recordings can be used to document the entire design process from concept to completion. This creates a comprehensive archive of how each project was developed, which is invaluable for future reference or when collaborating with other teams.

– External Demos for Marketing: Architects can use screen recording tools to create engaging marketing materials that showcase their work. These recordings can be shared on social media platforms, websites, or even used in presentations to attract potential clients by demonstrating expertise and showcasing past projects in action.

For my personal experience working by myself and with a team, my recommendations for screen recording tools are:

Focusee – Local, Fast, One Time Pricing

I love this one since it’s all local (no web UI), they have Mac and Windows versions, and the zooming is pretty solid. I’ve used this to record 50+ videos now, and it took my editing time to near-zero.

Yes, this is ranked above Screen Studio for me. If you’re a team with Mixed devices (Windows + Macs), or work with freelancers, it’s challenging to have the Screenstudio limitation of 1 operating system. Focusee avoids that problem. (But, the file formats seem to differ when saved on Windows vs. Mac.)

Check it out here.

My fav 3 things:

  1. I can change how my cursor looks after recording
  2. I can make simple cuts/timeline editing is not bloated
  3. Backgrounds can be swapped.

Tella.tv – Online Cinematic Screen Recording

1 word – ANIMATED BACKGROUNDS. (ok, that was 2 words.) This really takes any screen recording to the next level imho.

Right out of the box, you can make the most eye catching screen recording online. Everything can be handled with their Web UI (no app downloads needed). You can download their Mac app if needed.

It’s just simple – Press record, swap out background, and change layouts as needed. Imo, best SaaS option for screen capture.

Check out their free trial here.

My favourite 3 features:

  1. Team editing (fast) – No uploads/downloads needed to edit
  2. Animated backgrounds/screen borders
  3. Layout transitions are gorgeous out of the box.

Screen Studio – The Classic Screen Recorder

I’ve followed Screenstudio for a long time, and many many creators I follow use it. They have a sleek website and the product UI is pretty solid, but compared to Tella, I’m not sure it wins for team usage. (Need to upload/store the .screenstudio files somewhere.)

If your whole team is on Mac, and you have a solid filesharing/media library, it’s a great choice.

The upside? Tella costs monthly, ScreenStudio costs one time. (with 1 year of updates.)

Check it out here.

My fav 3 features:

  1. It looks great
  2. The creator is active on X/posts updates
  3. The roadmap has some exciting features.
